Now, we are coming to the close of this quest though with so much still hanging in the balance. The 3 winners have stood up for the final test now for 3 weeks and there is only one week remaining to know who takes what spot for the quest for ‘The Naija Music Idol 2008’. Will it be Tuface, P-Square or Faze? We have just till next Saturday to know who rules and who follows.

Tuface was the man last week, winning the week’s voting and still coming tops in the week overall result withn 11,149 votes. Next to him, was Faze who stole another week, though narrowly from P-Square with 1,342 votes against P-Square’s 1,336 votes for the week.

However P-Square got away at the end of the day with superior cumulative votes of 10,592 votes compared to Faze’s total of 10,344 votes.

If arithmetic is anything to go by, it seems the tough battle is really for the 2nd place, that is: between P-Square and Faze. But one thing that cannot be shove aside is the fact that on this quest anything can happen! That much readers of this column will agree with me is a hard fact.

On the other hand, it doesn’t seem like much has changed this week. Though Faze kept up the pressure to undo the twins but his weak start in the quest seems to remain his greatest undoing.

This week Tuface got hotter, showing his readiness to clinch the crown at all costs. He maul a total of 1,874 votes to lead the pack while Faze came second with 1,606 votes and P-Square with 1,464 votes. With rather a strident note, Tuface continues to dominate with a total of 13,023 votes.

P-Square may be slumming it week in , week out, but their cumulative keeps them on track with a total of 12,066 votes on the 2nd spot. Faze could only be consoled with the 3rd spot regardless of his impressive showing lately. With a total of 11,950, there is a little more he has to do to change how things stand at the moment.

Did I say how things stand at the moment? That moment that started some 3 months ago is about to go to an abrupt end by next Saturday. Miracle or no miracle the last lap of the quest is between now and Midnight of Wednesday May 6, 2009! Come hell or high waters, next Saturday is the D-Day! Brace up, vote now and see your star through to where you want but for now get a hang on what came in this week.

Tuface
1. After Tuface na Tuface again. He is the king of music and the right man there is. I love everything he does.

Tu Face
2Baba is the Igwe of many nations when it comes to music.
Samuel, Delta state, 07055127614

2. 2face is the best, no one can be compared to him. He is the king of kings of Nigerian musicians. He has got it all. Check out his songs, awards and his international recognition. The crown is his.
Richard, Lagos, 08050449491

3. Whether within Nigeria or in Africa as a whole, who is there to put next to Tuface Idibia? Let’s forget sentiment and think deep well enough. Tuface is the right man to crown as the Idol of Naija music or even Africa at that.
Okpe John, Ugbokolo, Benue state, 08077745877

4. No be small thing o! In fact, my guy no shaking. 2Baba na the guy. He’s got the voice and it thrills me to no end whenever i listen to him sing.
Tukong, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, 08066834866

5. 2Face is not suppose to be included in it at all. Just take a look at the final 3. Which of them has won a quarter of the awards won by 2Face. Which of them has an album done with internationally known artistes? You can see for yourself that there’s no contest. 2Face is that man.
Prince, Warri, Delta state, 08057007306

6. 2Face is a book in Nigerian music though yet to be released but already ‘pirated’ because the content is too hot. A raw talent in the ‘Plantation Boyz’ a refined product under Kennis and now a ‘World Brand’ for Hypertek. What more can i say? Without sentiment, 2Face is Naija Music Idol!
Felix Adekanye, Lagos, 08023527249

7. I think i want to say we should start with the meaning of the word ‘Idol’. It means somebody or something that you believe in, that defines what you do and how you do it. Music Idol should be somebody other music peers worship and want to be like and try their best to be like. Tuface is the only artiste that both established and upcoming artistes in Nigeria and beyond aspire to be like. P-Square? Nobody wants to be like them because they are not even original in the first place and Faze although good, has not been consistent with hits and that takes him out. Its Tuface all the way!
Kolade Ajayi, Lagos, 08037212667

Faze
8. Tuface is the man. I travelled to Tanzania and Kenya recently and the only Nigerian music that one hears on the streets and at the bars is “African Queen”. He has made us proud.
John, Lagos, 08051444554

9. Who are those funny guys (musicians) that want to compete with Tuface? While is not their fault because it is you guys that made a mistake of selecting some learners in music for this quest. Faze, P-Square and D’Banj are not up to the task.. You guys should stop stressing the obvious and give Tuface the crown. Anybody who knows Timaya should tell him to stop his repetition.
Arien, Delta state, 07081089466

10. It’s now 2Face since Asa has been voted out. 2Face is the man, he’s got what it takes. Among his contemporaries 2Face is the best thing that ever happened musically to Naija.
Tino, Abuja,08070812700

P-Square
1. I pronounce P-Square again and again as the best there’s to be found in the Nigerian music industry right now. Their acts are simply top of the range. Your column is nice too, Dear Editor, thank you.
Prince Kelvin, Katsina Ala, Benue state, 08088036002

2. More than 9 different clubs i have been to in India and once i have been to in China, Hong Kong, P-Square’s “Do me” remains the hit track. I adore them
Uche, India, +919910759056

3. God knows the importance of music that’s why he created ‘the great twins’. He knows what the great twins would do that’s why he put the best lovely voice in them, so don’t waste time searching for the Idol, give them the crown. It fits them.
Iberedem, Akwa Ibom state, 08086488218

4. P-square are unique and the way they twist their dance steps and waist make me love them. They are without doubt the best dancers in Nigeria as a whole and their music has a whole lot of meaning to me. So they are the best.
Eunice, Makurdi, Benue state, 08069720298

5. P-Square remains Naija Music Idol. They make things happen. Mostly, when am sad all i need to do to get back on track is just to listen to their sweet melody and i will be up and doing. Please the crown should be theirs!
Marcus, Auchi, Edo state, 08058143402

6. Chei! Una no get eyes? P-Square are the number one in everything. They deserve the crown. They have always stood out to be the best.
Henrietta, Anambra state, 08039554432

7. If not for any other reason but for the single reason that they are largely responsible for changing the face and quality of music videos and made us realise that Nigerians can also dance. P-Square rocks.
Ola, Benin, 08028818099

8. 2face try but P-Square pass am by far. Just feel their albums, you go see say them be all-rounders, any type of hip-hop. Faze is still very far from the real thing.
07039560562

9. P-Square is the Naija Music Idol. Those guys are just too much, doing their own thing and they are classic unlike others.
Tobi, Ibadan, Oyo state, 08053531662

10. Abeg crown the boys wey sabi- P-Square! Is Faze a praise singer or what? I don’t wanna enter Tuface place, it’s already crowded by Ann, Pero, Sumbo etc!
Chi, Lagos, 07090147409

Faze
1. Dear Editor, you wan enter the place? You go spoil o! Abi you wan dey do them do them? You carry gono o! But see originality reality, see the guy wey dey worry, he gives you courage.. Infact, from his lyrics, voice and his songs we can hope for tomorrow. Please, abeg, the innocent guy deserves the crown. That’s Faze alone.
BBM, Otukpo, Benue state, 08025251904

2. Faze is an Icon in this nation’s music industry. Na only him be the Naija Music Idol. Them no dey two.
Clementino, Awka, 07036335332

3. Please stop all this who’s who of a thing, the only WHO as far as music goes in Nigeria is Faze. Only him has the character to be the Naija Music Idol.
Chidi, Abuja, 08033379207

4. Faze is a cool-headed guy wey no like Kasala. He’s the Naija Music Idol and deserves the crown above 2Baba and P-Square. Please give it to him.
Realitibroda, Jos, Plateau, 08072555002

5. Na wa o! Why should i lie when i know the truth. Why should i confess when am not a witch? See truth, talk o, Faze is the originality of Naija and the main Idol.
Waskey Williams, Gboko, Benue state, 07066124030

6. No say dem say, Tuface dey try, we agree. P-Square dey try, no be lie. Hey pal, Faze is the Nigger. Just give him the crown.
Mankind, Okpoko, Onitsha, 08051906534

7. For it’s a written Law in the scripture that a man shall reap what he sowed. Faze has honoured other legends hence it’s only reciprocal that he should be so honoured as well
Choko, 07061348124

8. Faze is my Idol. He is completely original in all his lyrics. Mind you, an Idol should be a complete gentleman not an husband to different girls.
Efe, Doha, Qatar, +9745859336

9. Faze is the man that writes, sings and in fact, he is the R. Kelly of the Nigerian music scene. The guy is Mr. Prolific.
Festus, PHC, 07058397577

10. Faze it is o. for an artiste not to drink and not to have smoked at all before, then i think a role model cannot be better defined.
Yinka Alli, Lagos, 08052022013
